Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World: Animal Kingdom

February 6, 2017

Jambo, from the Animal Kingdom! Like a huge zoo, Animal Kingdom is awesome! I’ve heard many people say that the Animal Kingdom is their least favorite of the four parks! First, I can’t believe it, and second, my assumption would be because the park is different due to the number of animal attractions (duh!). However you feel about the park, I love it and I can’t wait to dive in!

Don’t forget- you can catch up on my overview of the Resort here, the Magic Kingdom here, Epcot here and Hollywood Studios here!

Animal Kingdom Entertainment

The Animal Kingdom has two of the best rides in the entire resort, and an awesome show!

Expedition Everest– This ride is like no other in Disney. It flies backward and forwards, all the while you’re running from the Yeti. A must do!

Dinosaur– Dinosaur is a fun ride that your whole family will enjoy! It’s semi-fast, dark and adventurous!

Kilimanjaro Safari– This ride should be at the very top of your list! NOT KIDDING. You go on a safari and see wild animals like lions, giraffes, and cheetahs up close. You can’t beat this ride!

The Lion King– Without a doubt one of the best shows in the park, this circular theater showcases the best of Lion King with almost a mini Broadway play. You will love it!

Pandora: Flight of the Avatar One of the newest and a HIGHLY popular attraction, this ride is absolutely stunning on all accounts!

Animal Kingdom Dining

The Animal Kingdom also has a lot of fun and different foods. Mostly focusing on Asian and African cuisine, you can easily immerse yourself into another world.

Here are my top picks in food:

Anandapur Ice Cream Truck: Great for tasty soft serve ice cream!

Isle of Java: I love this little snack kiosk simply because they have delicious tea from around the world!

Rainforest Café: Always a staple, Rainforest Cafe is a fun [wild] place to eat.

Yak & Yeti (quick serve and sit down): I LOVE the sit-down restaurant of Yak & Yeti. Definitely my top recommendation for a restaurant in this park.

Caravan Road: This location as a variety of restaurants that make it easy for large parties, picky eaters, or budget-friendly finds to grab something to eat.

This week I’ll be sure to give an update of Animal Kingdoms newest nightly show. Since I have yet to experience it (as of writing) I want to make sure to let you know how it is, so stay tuned for my update!

Animal Kingdom Tips

The Animal Kingdom is an awesome park, but my biggest tip for navigating the park and doing what you want is to keep up with the park times. Rides like Kilimanjaro Safaris is open until dusk, but they eventually cut off the ride because of the animals. They also close the walkthroughs of the zoos in Asia and Africa- so make sure you keep track of when they open and get there to see them! The nightly show is one of the newest updates to the park, so make sure to get a FastPass or get there early for a seat. Lastly, The World of Pandora is ridiculously amazing, but it can easily take up a ton of park time. Be sure to make your FastPasses for the River Journey in advance and especially the Flight of Avatar!
