Welcome to part four of my Disney World series! Today, I’m sharing with you my top tips for Hollywood Studios, and I can’t wait to share! You can check out my overview here, the Magic Kingdom here and Epcot here.
My family has had a few years experience vacationing to Disney World, and Hollywood Studios is undergoing MAJOR renovations with the addition of Star Wars: Galaxy Edge. However the good news is that of June 2018, Toy Story land officially opened! It’s a fun park with shows, rides, and ridiculously good nighttime entertainment!
Hollywood Studios Entertainment
Star Wars Galore!
Okay, I’m the first to admit I’m full of contradictions- one of those being I don’t like musicals, but STAND BACK when I’m in Disney World. Hollywood Studios is one of my favorite parks (besides Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom…oops.). In all seriousness, if you’re down for singing along with your favorite stories, seeing 15-minute renditions of classics, and being immersed in movies, then you’ve come to the right place! The thing to remember with Hollywood Studios is there are more shows in this park than rides. However, the shows are as equally amazing! The Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular show, had me bursting the entire time! This show is AMAZING to flash-back through the years on the original trilogy, and of course, enjoy what’s to come in the Star Wars universe. Okay, enough about my nerd rant!
This park is undergoing MAJOR renovations to make room for the soon-coming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge section, which is sure to immerse you fully into the Star Wars’ story. You can check out more about Star Wars’ Galaxy Edge here, on Disney’s website.
Aside from Magic Kingdom’s fireworks, I cannot go Disney World and not experience Fantasmic. Think Fantasia 2000 meets Disney’s most beloved characters and story arcs. Not convinced? Take my word for it and be swept away by this nighttime show. I could watch this over and over! If you’re interested, you can take part in Disney’s dining package to experience the show front and center! If you’re not interested, just make sure to arrive at the Fantasmic gates (near Tower of Terror), at least 1 hour before the show. It gets crazily crowded fast, the overflow seating isn’t decent and once the stadium is filled, they close it off. Oh, and unless you’re dying to get wet, don’t sit near the front…trust me!
Other Top Shows
The Little Mermaid is the classic, quick version of everyone’s favorite Ariel and her adventure to become a human for Prince Eric. It’s a timeless tale told inside a comfy theatre. You’re going to love the sounds, sights, and of course, seeing how they make magic by maneuvering sets, characters and more off the stage!
The Muppets are always a must do, too! This fun 3-D show is cheesy, quirky and sarcastic with your favorite characters from The Muppets. Trust me, get ready to laugh and be entertained!
Last, my favorite show is Beauty and the Beast. Not only is this in my top-5 favorite Disney movies, but this timeless classic also warms hearts with seeing our princess Belle conquer a Beast’s heart. It’s beautiful on-stage and you have to see it!
Hollywood Studios’ Rides
For rides, Hollywood Studios is limited on them, but trust me, the ones they have, knock it out of the park (no pun intended). My favorite four are incredible in their own way!
Here are my top 4 rides for Hollywood Studios:
Rockin’ Roller Coaster– My favorite roller coaster, hands down. It’s fast, loud and you can’t miss it!
Toy Story Mania– My family always has a fun competition going on with this ride. Ride along with your favorite Toy Story friends and have fun!!
Star Tours– My dad and I are huge Star Wars fans, so this ride is nothing short of awesome. It’s a simulator and no two times are the same!
Tower of Terror– If you don’t like drops or elevator, stay away! But, if you do, then ride on!
Hollywood Studios Dining
50s Prime Time Cafe is a fun themed restaurant that takes you straight to the 50s! It has home cooked meals and the servers normally treat you like you’re sitting around the family dinner table. It’s a blast! This restaurant is found in Echo Lake!
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is another fun themed restaurant that you sit in the car, watch old movies and eat drive-in movie food. This is probably one of my favorite places to eat! This restaurant is found on Commissary Lane.
Mama Melrose’s Italian Restaurant is located on Grand Avenue (near the Muppets) and is definitely my top choice in food here! If you like Italian food, come here!
ABC Commissary is located on Commissary Lane and is quick food, but it’s good! Out of the quick service here, this one is my favorite!
Catalina Eddie’s is located on Sunset Blvd. and is my second favorite here. It’s located in the area of Rockin’ Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror!
Hollywood Studios Tips
My tip for HS is simply- be aware of the MAJOR construction in this park! They are currently adding Galaxy Edge’s, so maneuvering is a little more difficult! I’ll also post updates and extra tips as soon as I return from my 2019 trip!
